DESCRIPTION:It is difficult to overstate Hopeton Brown’s influence on the
  history of dub. Under the alias Scientist\, he crafted sonic worlds so po
 werful that they still sound like music from the future. With his unmistak
 able signature of deep basslines\, spacious echoes and hypnotic reverb\, h
 e redefined the sonic landscape of dub and inspired countless producers in
  his wake.\n\nBrown got his start as an apprentice at King Tubby’s legen
 dary studio in Kingston during the 1970s. Among the studio equipment on Dr
 omilly Avenue\, the young protégé would go on to transform the art of mi
 xing. “Anyone who can do that must be a Scientist\,” King Tubby famous
 ly said — and so Hopeton Brown was given his artist name.\n\nDuring the 
 1980s\, Scientist made the leap from apprentice to master in his own right
 \, releasing a series of groundbreaking albums recorded at Channel One and
  Tuff Gong. On this February evening at Fasching\, the spotlight will be o
 n the 1981 classic Scientist Rids the World of the Evil Curse of the Vampi
 res.\n\nWith equal parts scientific precision\, raw explosiveness and a pl
 ayful sense of humour\, he takes tracks apart and rebuilds them from their
  individual components\, dressing them in galactic echoes\, planet-shaking
  bass and drum hits powerful enough to awaken both spirits and dancefloors

 n dubsoundets ljudlandskap och inspirerade otaliga producenter i hans sval
