 .4 is an American psych-rock and shoegaze band now based in the San Franci
 sco\, after moving from Philadelphia in 2011. Formed in the late 90s\, the
  group has earned a loyal underground following through immersive live sho
 ws characterized by layered guitars and heavy reverb. They boast a prolifi
 c discography\, including 13 studio albums alongside numerous EPs and sing
 les. Their signature sound blends shoegaze\, 12-string folk-rock\, Kosmisc
 he Musik\, and cosmic country.\n\nThe band was founded by childhood friend
 s Scott Vitt and Eric Harms\, who previously played in punk and Smiths tri
 bute acts. Inspired by 90s British shoegaze\, they recruited bassist Gregg
  Weiss and drummer Bill Reim to complete the original lineup\, debuting wi
 th a self-released 7-inch single on their own Lounge Records label.The nam
 e "The Asteroid No.4" honors Vesta (the solar system's brightest asteroid)
  and the UK psych band Spacemen 3. Notably\, their cover of Spacemen 3's "
 Losing Touch with My Mind" on a 1998 tribute album was publicly praised by
  founding member Sonic Boom in Magnet Magazine.\n\nAcid Rooster blends Ger
 man krautrock and psych-rock with cosmic jams. The childhood trio crafts i
 nstrumental music that shifts between ambient spheres and heavy\, climacti
 c riffs. Their partly written\, partly improvised tracks create a trance-l
 ike undertow\, blending space rock\, drone\, and garage. Authentic and sty
 listically confident\, they offer a fresh\, unpretentious take on psychede
