DESCRIPTION:New York–born saxophonist Nikita Sipiagin is an emerging voic
 e on the international jazz scene\, known for blending a deep connection t
 o tradition with a modern\, exploratory sound. A student of Mark Turner an
 d Dick Oatts\, he has developed a distinctive voice as both a performer an
 d bandleader.\nThe son of trumpeter Alex Sipiagin\, and influenced by the 
 lineage of Toshiko Akiyoshi and Charlie Mariano\, Sipiagin carries a rich 
 musical heritage while forging a bold and expressive artistic identity of 
 his own.\n\n Founded in 2022\, the Nikita Sipiagin Quartet brings together
  a dynamic group of young musicians from the United States\, Spain\, and F
 rance. Rooted in the New York jazz tradition\, the band presents a fresh\,
  contemporary perspective through original compositions alongside reimagin
 ed selections from the Great American Songbook. Their music emphasizes int
 erplay\, individuality\, and a shared commitment to creative expression.\n
 \n The quartet has performed extensively across Europe\, with appearances 
 in Germany\, Switzerland\, Austria\, Spain\, and Belgium\, steadily buildi
 ng a reputation for energetic and cohesive live performances.\n\n The ense
 mble features: Joan Codina (double bass) — Born in València\, Spain\, C
 odina began his musical journey on classical cello before turning to the d
 ouble bass in his late teens. Now studying with leading figures such as La
 rry Grenadier and Jeff Ballard\, he has already shared the stage with musi
 cians including George Garzone\, Mark Whitfield Jr. (Farnsworth)\, and Jor
 ge Rossy. He is widely recognized for his maturity and strong musical voic
 e.\n\n Genius Wesley (drums) — A standout young drummer\, Wesley has per
 formed with artists such as Buster Williams\, Gerald Clayton\, Joe Sanders
 \, and Immanuel Wilkins. Currently based in Basel\, he studies at Jazzcamp
 us under Jeff Ballard on a full scholarship. His playing combines deep gro
 ove with a highly expressive and modern approach.\n\n Noé Sécula (piano)
  — A French pianist and composer\, Sécula is regarded as one of the mos
 t promising voices of his generation in Europe. He has performed and recor
 ded with artists including Brad Mehldau\, Jorge Rossy\, Larry Grenadier\, 
 and Mark Turner. A graduate with honors from Jazzcampus Basel\, he was awa
 rded an arranging prize at the Keep an Eye Jazz Award and released his sec
 ond album in 2025 on Fresh Sound New Talent\, featuring a tribute to Thelo
