 uing our Organ Series on October 10th at The Old Church in Stoke Newington
  with an organ and cello performance by Natalia Beylis & Eimear Reidy cele
 brating the reissue of their amazing album She Came Through the Window to

 \nRecorded at St Georges Church\, Carrick On Shannon\, Leitrim on a cold e
 arly January with a William Telford Organ. Built in 1846\, it is reputed t
 o be the second oldest organ in Ireland.\n\nTRACK 1/SIDE A: 'Pour Upon The
  Sky' is a story told by the two voices of cello and organ. Influenced by 
 the rhetorical style of 18th century vocal music\, the inspiration for thi
 s piece came naturally to Eimear who has a background in early music and h
 as performed alongside the organ in a variety of settings from chamber wor
 ks to Bach's larger orchestral works such as St Matthew Passion. In 18th c
 entury music\, the cello & organ perform a role as continuo players. Tradi
 tionally the cello and organ are both intertwined and interdependent\, pla
 ying the bass line and harmonies together and providing a foundation for t
 he rest of the ensemble while soloists come in and out.\n\nIn 'Pour Upon T
 he Sky'\, Eimear and Natalia play within and without of this traditional f
 orm. Freed from the need to hold the solid ground for an ensemble\, the ce
 llo and organ playfully explore the space as they pass the role of solo an
 d continuo back and forth.\n\nTRACK 2/SIDE B: 'The Whistling Dust' is a sl
 ow steady study of the microscopic flutters of the organs and the organ. T
 he heart of the Telford rattles and breathes as the cello dances in and ou
 t. When Natalia & Eimear began working on these pieces in the cold January
 \, the Telford\, which seemed like it had been sitting quietly for quite s
 ome time\, shook and trembled as its insides were awoken. 'The Whistling D
 ust' speaks to the moment when the instrument moved alive\, every opened s
 top knob of the pipes bringing the feel of the microsounds of the machine 
 closer and closer as the cello offers utterances of encouragement.\n\n\\--
 -\n\nKit Grill is a London-based musician\, composer\, and NTS Radio resid
 ent known for his distinctive blend of electronic minimalism\, cinematic s
 ound design\, and emotional depth. His music sits between ambient\, modern
  classical\, post-punk\, and experimental techno. A graduate of Chelsea Co
 llege of Art & Design\, Grill’s creative practice extends beyond music i
 nto visual art\, film\, and photography\, shaping a coherent and refined a
 esthetic that explores the interplay between sound\, movement\, and image.
