 of Traditional Irish music with a distinctly Mancunian edge – as he mark
 s the completion of his University of Sheffield doctoral research on woode
 n flute playing and identity in Asturias\, northern Spain. In conversation
  with folklorist and writer Nicky Crewe\, he will weave together music\, s
 ong\, and story: growing up in the Manchester Irish community of the 1980s
  and 1990s\, discovering Sheffield and English folk traditions\, and traci
 ng how walking the Camino de Santiago led him to the music and culture of 
 Asturias.The evening concludes with the first Sheffield performance of his
  new duo\, Folkuuuuunst\, with English Melodeon ace Will Hampson – an up
 lifting\, high‑energy journey through music and song from Ireland\, Engl
 and\, Asturias\, and the wider Celtic world.This promises to be a fascinat
 ing evening of conversation and music with some unexpected twists and turn
