SUMMARY:Good Frequencies - Edition 3
LOCATION:Project Grain
DESCRIPTION:For the third edition of District presents Good Frequencies in
collaboration with On the Jungle Floor\, we’re spending an evening with
the music of Sade\, a band whose sound has somehow remained unmistakable
for more than four decades.Since the early 1980s\, Sade have occupied a sp
ace entirely their own. Warm\, restrained\, elegant and deeply intimate\,
their music has gone on to influence everything from quiet storm and neo-s
oul to contemporary R&B\, hip-hop and generations of producers who still s
ample and reference their records today.Across the session\, we’ll move
through key moments from the bands catalogue on vinyl\, stopping every few
songs to talk about what we’re hearing and some of the stories surround
ing the music. We’ll look at how the band came together\, Sade Adu’s un
mistakable presence\, and the musical landscape their early records arrive
d into. We’ll also get into what makes these records feel so special —
the space in the arrangements\, the understated production\, those soft h
orns and grooves\, and the fact that nothing ever feels like it’s doing
more than it needs to.As the records play\, we’ll spend time with indivi
dual songs too\, looking at the songwriting\, musicianship\, studio choice
s and a few of the stories behind some of their most enduring tracks.More
than anything\, this is an evening to just sit with the music properly. To
hear songs we may have known for years on vinyl\, in a room together\, an
d come away understanding a little more about why Sade still sounds like S
ade\, and why so much music that came after carries a little bit of them i
 n it.\n\nBoletos: https://www.district.in/events/good-frequencies---editio
