 mmemoration\, and lament.\nIn the first set\, local artist Stephanie Orlan
 do brings her Sonic Bikes to the stage. A bespoke ensemble of improvising 
 percussionists will make use of reassembled and sonified bike parts to ani
 mate a familiar soundworld of gears\, spokes\, and pedals. The performance
  takes on added weight as each artist exerts and sustains a particular ped
 al-powered labour to realize the piece\, which is found in their constantl
 y negotiated collective space.\nDuring each of the other nights of the fes
 tival\, Stephanie’s sound sculptures will be set up in the venue for aud
 iences to interact and improvise with.\nDuring the second set\, Bilal Nass
 er will perform delay- and reverb-drenched solo works for guitar and voice
 . He will also be joined by a chamber ensemble to present a genre-bending 
 suite about genocidal crisis and diasporic despair. Bilal blends post-rock
 \, post-classical\, punk\, electronic\, and shoegaze in a musical statemen
 t of commemoration\, resistance\, healing and lament. This performance mar
 ks the Toronto launch of Bilal’s album\, Every Martyr is a Universe\, on
