SUMMARY:Artist Talk: Layered Landscapes
LOCATION:The Pipe Shop
DESCRIPTION:Artist Talk: Layered Landscapes\n \nJoin us for a group artis
t talk on Layered Landscapes\, on view at North Van Arts' CityScape Galler
 y. Featuring exhibiting artists Rebecca Bayer\, Biliana Velkova\, Mohadese
Movahed\, and Jennifer Tazewell Mawby\, this conversation offers an oppor
tunity to learn more about the ideas\, processes\, and perspectives behind
the exhibition.\nLayered Landscapes explores how natural and built enviro
nments become vessels for memory\, imagination\, and cultural inheritance.
Through painting\, drawing\, and sculpture\, the exhibition considers lan
dscape as more than a physical place—it is a living archive shaped by ec
 ology\, mythology\, technology\, history\, and personal experience. Moving
between forests\, urban environments\, and imagined worlds\, the artists
examine themes of belonging\, displacement\, identity\, and the stories em
bedded within the spaces we inhabit.\nDuring the talk\, each artist will d
iscuss their practice and the concepts informing their work\, followed by
a conversation about the exhibition's shared themes and approaches to land
scape. Visitors will have the opportunity to gain deeper insight into the
artworks and engage with the artists through a Q&A.\nWhether you've alread
y experienced the exhibition or are visiting for the first time\, this eve
nt offers a deeper look into the layered relationships between place\, mem
ory\, and imagination that shape our understanding of the world.\nArtists\
nRebecca Bayer’s forest paintings explore fragile ecosystems through clo
se observation of shifting light. Grounded in an attentiveness to place\,
her work approaches landscape as a shared\, living system.www.rebeccabayer

story to construct mythic landscapes where ritual\, memory\, and imagina
tion intertwine. Her work reclaims storytelling as a spatial practice\, ma
pping identity through legend and symbol.www.bilianavelkova.ca \nMohadese
Movahed’s work approaches the built environment as a psychological and
political site where personal memory and collective history converge. She
creates hybrid urban landscapes to explore power\, displacement\, and cu
ltural memory by bringing traditional Iranian architectural motifs into di
alogue with her contemporary lived environments.www.mohadesemovahed.com \
nJennifer Tazewell Mawby’s gestural drawings\, paintings\, and sculpture
s place the human figure within psychological and machine-generated enviro
nments. Her work questions how history\, memory\, and identity are constru
 cted\, mediated\, and preserved.www.jjtmstudio.com\n\nBoletos: https://www
