DESCRIPTION:J. Zunz is the solo project of Mexican artist Lorena Quintanill
 a\, originally from Guadalajara\, Jalisco. She returns to Manchester in su
 pport of 'Obsidiana'\, the third J. Zunz album on Rocket Recordings. It's 
 a record that manages to be both more aggressive and more gentle than anyt
 hing she’s previously created either on her own or in her work in Lorell
 e Meets The Obsolete. A study in balance\, its emotional charge remains st
 rong and intact whether on the eerie\, almost Radiophonic ambience of ‘I
 mago’\, the dancefloor-adjacent\, Chris & Cosey-esque ‘Osiris’ or th
 e abrasive\, industrial-strength confrontation of ‘Silvia’. On ‘Fina
 l’ meanwhile\, Lorena is joined by her only main collaborator this time 
 around\, freddie Murphy (former Father Murphy) whose trumpet and synth abs
 tractions offer further vivid colour to ‘Obsidiana’s spectrum.\n\nLive
 \, J.Zunz will be performing solo on stage\, so as to recreate the intimat
