  Siraj formerly Shea Pierre is a New Orleansborn pianist\, composer\, prod
 ucer\, and educator whose sound reflects the deep musical traditions of hi
 s hometown while pushing them forward. He began playing music at age four 
 in church and with his familys gospel group\, later honing his craft at th
 e New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (NOCCA) under mentors including Ell
 is Marsalis and Jason Marsalis. Pierre went on to study Jazz Studies at th
 e Oberlin Conservatory\, developing a style that blends jazz\, gospel\, bl
 ues\, hip-hop\, and global influences into a voice that is both rooted and
  contemporary.A respected figure on the New Orleans music scene\, Shea lea
 ds his own ensembles and performs regularly at major cultural venues and f
 estivals. He has worked with and alongside notable artists such as Christi
 an Scott aTunde Adjuah\, Donald Harrison\, Weedie Braimah & the Hands of T
 ime\, and Fatoumata Diawara\, among others. Through performance\, composit
 ion\, and community-centered projects\, Shiraj continues to use music as a
