DESCRIPTION:Armageddon is a long-term photographic project developed over e
 ight years that explores the unstable boundary between the human body and 
 the natural world. Through close observation\, fragmentation and visual as
 sociation\, the photographs move between bodies\, landscapes\, stone\, tex
 ture and other forms. A body can resemble a landscape\; a surface can beco
 me difficult to identify\; distinctions between human and non-human begin 
 to dissolve. Rather than presenting the body as an isolated subject\, the 
 work considers it as part of a larger field of matter\, time and transform
 ation. The project also emerges from Kafare's experience of growing up in 
 Mumbai\, where physical proximity to other bodies was part of everyday lif
 e while the naked and intimate body remained culturally charged by ideas o
 f privacy\, shame and morality. Armageddon does not seek simply to make th
 e body visible. Instead\, it asks how cultural habits of looking shape wha
 t we recognise\, conceal or separate.\n\nAbhinav Kafare (b. 1990) is an In
 dian visual artist and photographer based in Tampere\, Finland. His practi
 ce investigates perception\, the body and the shifting boundaries between 
 the individual and their surroundings. Working primarily with photography
 \, he also explores photobooks\, installation and material forms. His work
