In 1999\, it merged wi th Carsten Nicolai’s NOTON to form raster-noton\, before becoming indepe ndent again as raster in 2017. Across some 200 releases — alongside book s\, installations and live presentations — the label has brought togethe r visual artists\, club musicians\, noise pioneers\, composers and instrum entalists\, connected less by genre than by a shared appetite for experime ntation.\nThirty years after its first release\, raster comes to Inkonst f or an anniversary night celebrating a catalogue — and an artistic networ k — that continues to ask what electronic music can be.\nCo-founder Fran k Bretschneider has spent decades locating strange amounts of movement ins ide minimal structures. A musician\, composer and video artist\, his work is built from precise sound placement\, interwoven rhythms and an unusuall y fluid sense of reduction\, with visuals operating as an extension of the music rather than decoration. From experiments with tapes and synthesizer s in East Germany to AG Geige\, rastermusic and more than 30 albums\, Bret schneider has developed a language where microscopic detail can produce ve ry physical results.\nHungarian producer Gábor Lázár pushes that logic into a more volatile digital present. His hyper-detailed compositions dism antle club music into repetition\, texture and micro-modulation\, then ass emble it again according to their own peculiar physics. His raster debut R eflex moves gradually from unpredictable abstraction towards lean\, playfu l forms of techno — music that seems to negotiate\, in real time\, betwe en cerebral concentration and bodily impulse.\nGerman audiovisual artist A melie Duchow works between sound\, space\, image and form. Subtle layers c ollide with intensive electronic structures\, while visual perception beco mes an active part of listening. Her practice extends from solo work to SC HNITT\, the audiovisual project founded with Marco Monfardini\, and a wide r body of installations and performances exploring the unstable border bet ween what we hear and what we see.\nCompleting the night are Xuri & John C leworth\, bringing together Xuri’s evocative\, colour-like approach to s onic landscapes with Cleworth’s intricate rhythms\, synthesis and spatia l sound design.
