 *Rachel Shearer**'s album **"Te Oro o te Ao"** on Thin Wrist Recordings. A
 bby Dahlquist's **Ecco the Dolphin** will also perform and lead the audien
 ce in a Deep Listening practice.\n\nFor over three decades\, Aotearoa / Ne
 w Zealand based sound artist and composer **Rachel Shearer** has researche
 d and engaged with a wide range of Māori and Western practices in listeni
 ng to the Earth. On the first full length album released under her name\, 
 Te Oro o te Ao (the resounding of the world) Shearer has created a bold wo
 rk of sonic dreaming and remembrance. A personal realization channeled thr
 ough the Māori concept of whakapapa\; embracing the belief that the whole
  of creation\, past/present/future is a dynamic interconnected movement. W
 ith field recordings\, electronics\, and voice\, Shearer creates immersive
  analogs of earthly processes that move like tumbling avalanches and crash
 ing waves. Subterranean volcanic activity transmutes into super-heated air
  rising into frequencies beyond human hearing. Shearer posits that conscio
 usness\, like the environment\, is not a closed system\; that the mind is 
 an ecosystem where our thoughts are the ‘flora’ and ‘fauna’ and th
 e perception of sound vibrations in the material world is a gateway to met
 aphysical realms.\n\nTe Oro o Te Ao was first realized as an immersive eig
 ht-channel sound installation made in response to a close listening to the
  earth. It was also released as a limited artist’s acetate edition of 10
 . Thin Wrist is pleased to present Te Oro o Te Ao in a vinyl and digital e
 dition mastered by Rashad Becker\, Clunk Berlin. Housed in a tip-on gatefo
 ld jacket with embossed black paper stock\, ink pigment foil stamping\, wi
 th a mounted booklet in the inner gatefold and printed inner sleeves. Pres
 sed at Optimal\, Germany.\n\nRachel Shearer has investigated sound as a me
 dium through a wide range of sonic practices — installations\, composing
 \, performing\, writing\, as well as collaborating as a sound designer and
  composer for moving image and live performance events. She has received n
 umerous public commissions for sound art including the permanent nine-chan
 nel sound installation The Flooded Mirror on the Auckland waterfront. She 
 has been active as an experimental musician since the late 1980’s and ha
 s released material with labels Xpressway (NZ)\, Flying Nun (NZ)\, Ecstati
 c Peace (US)\, Corpus Hermeticum (NZ)\, Family Vineyard (US) among others.
 \n\n**Ecco the Dolphin** is a project by musician\, Deep Listener\, and ar
 tist **Abby Dahlquist**. Dahlquist began working under the name Ecco the D
 olphin to express resistance and earth consciousness through peaceful list
 ening. Ecco explores the human-nature relationship through multimedia pres
 entations that evoke the memory of home recorded new age ambient cassettes
  found in thrift stores on long drives up and down the pacific coast highw
 ay and Audrey Horne’s foray into environmental activism. Holding a certi
 ficate from Pauline Oliveros’ Deep Listening Institute\, Dahlquist regul
 arly facilitates workshops and has lectured at Philosophical Research Soci
 ety and Shelterfest in Olympia\, Wa. What may be expected to be passive li
 stening experience will most likely transform into one of communal creatio
