DESCRIPTION:Come and explore the world of fungi in your local woods. These 
 informal walks will serve as an introductory journey towards getting to kn
 ow and appreciate fungi as important allies within our (natural-cultural)

 alk\, you will have the chance to discover:the habitats and main tree asso
 ciations of different fungi\, and their ecological role\;the basics of ide
 ntification & key features of different fungi groups\, with an added focus
  on edible and poisonous species\, on medicinal fungi\, and on other uses.
  foraging ethics\, etiquette and laws within the UK.We might also explore:
 the cultural histories of foraging and indigenous knowledges\;how fungi qu
 estion our perceptions of ‘nature’\;kinship and community within the c
 apitalist rubble. Logistics/ Location:Walks will take place in woods aroun
 d North/East London\, please ignore the indicated postcode. The location w
 ill be confirmed a week prior to the walk/ upon booking and will be access
 ible by London Underground lines/ buses (and\, for some locations\, a very
  short taxi ride that can be shared with others). The emphasis is on multi
 -sensory engagement within local\, urban green spaces. The average walk mi
 ght be around 2-3km\, with a lunch/ snack/ rest break in the middle\, and 
 will take you through different habitats on uneven terrain. The route and 
 pace on the day\, however\, will be dictated by the needs of the group. Wa
 lks will go ahead on rainy days (provided the weather conditions don’t w
 orsen or prove unsafe). What to bring:walking shoes or bootsweather-approp
 riate clothes that feel most comfortable to you (waterproofs\, warmer laye
 rs\, a warm hat\, gloves etc.) – the forest might be slightly colder. bo
 ttle of water or flask with hot drinka snack or lunch for our break (nouri
 shing your body with breakfast before the walk is recommended)a portable s
 tool (can be provided)insect repellent (oregano\, rosemary\, citronella & 
 thyme oils are great for diverting any unwanted tick attention). I will be
  providing fungi ID keys/ books and hand lenses/ loupes on the day.Please

  free ticket available on each walk for anyone who cannot contribute money
