DESCRIPTION:Turning Point Ensemble presents a shimmering program featuring
  the music of Tōru Takemitsu along with works by composers who have a con
 nection to his oeuvre. At the heart of this concert is Takemitsu’s And t
 hen I knew ‘twas wind (1992) paired along with the piece that inspired i
 t\, Claude Debussy’s Sonata for Flute\, Viola\, and Harp (1915). This co
 ncert offers a rare opportunity to hear Takemitsu’s mixed quintet Rainsp
 ell (1982)\, as well as his Messiaen-influenced Quatrain II (1977). Demons
 trating Takemitsu’s impact on the music of today\, this program will als
 o feature the works of Toshio Hosokawa\, Vancouver’s Dorothy Chang\, and
  Ramsey Sadaka. Each of these composers engage in some way to the unique a
 pproach to music developed by Takemitsu over the course of his career.\n\n
