 ld and deeply personal choice. He walked away from stardom\, moved to New 
 York City with his beloved dachshund\, Peace\, and enrolled in The New Sch
 ool for Jazz and Contemporary Music. Under the mentorship of masters inclu
 ding Junior Mance and Aaron Goldberg\, he reinvented himself from scratch.
