 t Africa’s griots (in Mandinka language known as Jeli) are traditional s
 torytellers\,\n\npoets\, historians\, musicians\, and praise singers. They
  maintain and share traditions\,\n\ncultural heritage\, values and history
 . They originated in the 13th century within the\n\nMande Empire of Mali. 
 Since then\, the oral tradition has been handed down through\n\nspecific M
 anding griot families (in Mali\, Senegal\, Gambia\, Guinea) of which both 
 Sura\n\nand Habib were born into.\n\nTraditional instruments used by griot
 s include the kora\, balafon and ngoni.\n\nManding Melody highlights some 
 of these instruments\, intertwined with contemporary musical\n\ninstrument
 s and styles. The result is a blend that refreshes and revives ancient sto
