 iftung und M+\, in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Geoffrey Bawa Trust.\n\nMit eine
 r über fünfzig Jahre währenden Schaffenszeit und mehr als 200 realisier
 ten Projekten zählt Geoffrey Bawa (1919–2003) zu den einflussreichsten 
 Architekten Asiens des 20. Jahrhunderts. Sein Werk verbindet die Prinzipie
 n des Modernismus auf einzigartige Weise mit regionalen und traditionellen
  Elementen und entwickelt so eine unverwechselbare Architektursprache\, di
 e sensibel auf den Ort\, lokale Materialien und kulturelle Identitäten re
 agiert. Bawas Oeuvre prägte die Architektur des postkolonialen Sri Lanka 
 nachhaltig und umfasst Hotels\, Privathäuser\, Schulen\, Universitäten\,
  Fabriken\, Bürogebäude sowie das Parlamentsgebäude des Landes. Heute w
 ird sein Ansatz weltweit neu entdeckt und dient als inspirierendes Vorbild
  für sozial und ökologisch nachhaltiges Bauen.\n\nIm Herbst 2026 präsen
 tieren das Vitra Design Museum und M+ Hongkong in Zusammenarbeit mit dem G
 eoffrey Bawa Trust die erste umfassende Retrospektive zu Bawa seit zwei Ja
 hrzehnten. Die Ausstellung beleuchtet zentrale Leitmotive seines Schaffens
  – von interdisziplinärer Zusammenarbeit sowie ökologischem\, sozialem
  und kulturellem Engagement bis hin zu gestalterischen Formensprache\, die
  seine Architektur unverwechselbar prägt. Eine außergewöhnlich umfangre
 iche Auswahl an Zeichnungen\, Modellen\, Möbeln\, Fotografien und Filmen 
 macht die sinnliche Atmosphäre von Bawas Vermächtnis spürbar und betont

 decades and over 200 projects\, Geoffrey Bawa (1919-2003) counts as one of
  the most influential 20th-century architects in Asia. His work blends the
  principles of Modernism with vernacular and traditional elements to form 
 a distinctive architectural language that responds sensitively to context
 \, to local materials cultural identities. Bawa’s remarkable oeuvre shap
 ed the architecture of postcolonial Sri Lanka\, and includes hotels\, priv
 ate residences\, schools\, universities\, factories\, office buildings\, a
 nd the country’s parliament. Today\, his approach is being rediscovered 
 worldwide as a guiding inspiration for socially and ecologically sustainab
 le building practice.\n\nIn 2026\, the Vitra Design Museum and M+ Hong Kon
 g in collaboration with the Geoffrey Bawa Trust\, will present the first m
 ajor retrospective on Bawa in two decades. The exhibition foregrounds recu
