DESCRIPTION:Minah Choe and Daniel Herscovitch have been working together fo
 r five years. Although  their repertoire encompasses works from the 18th a
 nd 19th centuries\, for this program they will perform two twentieth centu
 ry classic sonatas by Benjamin Britten and Elliott Carter\, the Suite Ital
 ienne by Igor Stravinsky and from the 21st century Velvet by the Dutch-Aus
 tralian composer Kate Moore.\n\nBorn in Seoul\, Korea\, Minah Choe began h
 er studies at the age of 8. She graduated with a Bachelor of Music with Fi
 rst Class of Honors from the University of Sydney Conservatorium of Music 
 (Sydney Conservatorium). She was a full scholarship holder at the Australi
 an National Academy of Music in 2002 before gaining her master's degree fr
 om the Indiana University Jacob’s School of Music in 2004 as student and
  assistant of Professor Janos Starker. Currently Minah is pursuing her Doc
 tor of Musical Arts degree at the Sydney Conservatorium while working as a
  freelance cellist in major orchestras and performing widely in various ch
 amber music concerts and recitals. She has appeared as a soloist with seve
 ral orchestras including Sydney Symphony\, Christchurch Symphony\, Nizhny-
 Novgrod Philharmonic\, Indiana Univeristy Philharmonic\, and Bloomington C
 amerata.\n\nDaniel Herscovitch is currently Associate Professor of Piano a
 t the Sydney Conservatorium. An active solo and chamber musician\, he has 
 performed in Australia's major festivals\, and with some of its most estab
 lished ensembles. He was a soloist in the first Australian performance of 
 the Bartók Concerto for Two Pianos. Daniel has toured the USA\, Indonesia
 \, Singapore\, Norway\, Germany and the UK\, where he held a residency at 
 the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester. His solo repertoire ran
 ges from Purcell to Carter and beyond\, and includes contemporary Australi
 an\, Asian\, European and American works. His recordings of repertoire fro
 m the 17th to the 21st centuries have been released on Tall Poppies\, Tocc
 ata Classics and ABC Classics labels\, among others. His CD of music by Ro
 ger Smalley was Editor’s Choice in the 2019 Awards issue of Gramophone.
