 \, the most traditional bowing instrument (Dhanurvādya) of India in a rar
 e solo style presentation which is the hallmark of the Narayan tradition.
 \n\nLegendary Sarangi maestro Pandit Ram Narayan\, was a pioneer with a vi
 sion far ahead of his times\, and what he saw in this magnificent instrume
 nt has forever changed the trajectory for this previously maligned instrum
 ent. In the words of the great violin maestro Sir Yehudi Menuhin\, “Ram 
 Narayan has given a new life to a dying instrument.”\n\nRam Narayan Ji d
 evised a unique left hand as well as the right hand bowing technique\, mad
 e changes to enhance the sound quality as well as the range of the instrum
 ent\, created a previously non-existent format for solo sarangi combining 
 the traditional vocal music repertoire with the fundamental elements of in
 strumental music\, and established sarangi on the most prestigious classic
 al concert platforms globally as a full-fledged solo classical instrument.
 \n\nIn this special concert\, Vasanti Shrikhande\, a senior disciple of Pa
 ndit Ram Narayan Ji\, will present a sarangi solo in the first half. It mu
 st be noted that it is very rare to find a lady sarangi player and that al
 so in this unique style.\n\nThe second half will feature a sarangi recital
  by Pandit Ji’s grandson and student\, Harsh Narayan\, the torch bearer 
 of the Narayan gharana and one of the leading sarangi players of the count
 ry.\n\nThe tabla accompaniment would be provided by Shri Achyut Tijare\, a
  student of the revered tabla maestro\, Pandit Bhai Gaitonde.\n\nLimited S
