The stage is Kamigamo Shrine\, a UNESCO World Heritage sit e in Kyoto — specifically the Hashidono\, a pavilion that spans the Nara -no-ogawa stream. One night only. 上賀茂神社の御鎮座は、伝承 では「2600年」余り前。そして、雅楽がこの国に根を下 ろしておよそ「1300年」。 偶然にも、神社の歩みのちょ うど折り返しの点で、雅楽は生まれています。 2600年前 と、1300年前と、現在。 三つの時空が、ならの小川の上 で逢う日——それがこの演奏会『音の逢ふひ ーAOIー』 です。 たそがれ時から、夜へ。 舞台は、川の上。 川 のせせらぎ、風のそよぐ音、秋虫の啼き声——自然は いつも全開です。 そのなかに、人の音が重なる。 我々 人類は、自然界がもつ壮大な波と溶けあうのか、反す るのか、ともに揺れるのか。 これは自然と人の関係性 を「音」という角度から確かめ直す、ひとつの実験で もあります。 Kamigamo Shrine\, by tradition\, was founded more than 2\,600 years ago. Gagaku took root in this country some 1\,300 years ago. By coincidence\, gagaku was born at almost exactly the halfway point of th e shrine's long history. 2\,600 years ago. 1\,300 years ago. Now. Three er as meeting above the Nara-no-ogawa — that is what this performance\, AOI \, is about. From dusk into night. The stage stands over the water. The mu rmur of the stream\, the sound of wind through the leaves\, the calls of a utumn insects — nature is always sounding\, at full volume. Into that\, human sound enters. Do we dissolve into the great waves of the natural wor ld\, resist them\, or sway together with them? By tradition\ , its founding dates back more than 2\,600 years\, and its grounds are reg istered as part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site "Historic Monuments of A ncient Kyoto." The shrine is also known for the Aoi Matsuri\, one of Kyoto 's three great festivals\, held each May. 境内を流れる 「ならの 小川」 は、百人一首にも詠まれた清流です。 その流れ をまたいで建つのが、国の重要文化財でもある 「橋殿 （はしどの）」 。 通常は神事でしか使われないこの殿 舎を舞台に、本公演は執り行われます。 The Nara-no-ogawa\, the stream running through the shrine grounds\, is a clear waterway celeb rated in classical Japanese poetry. Spanning it stands the Hashidono\, des ignated an Important Cultural Property of Japan.
