 26\, please purchase a ticket. Jon Hunt’s Blue Devils are a Melbourne ba
 sed band playing traditional and swing jazz. Led by reed player Jon Hunt\,
  the band focuses on the music of Sidney Bechet\, Benny Goodman\, and Duke
  Ellington as well as other jazz luminaries of the 20s and 30s. The band b
 egan during the years Jon spent living in New York\, where he regularly pl
 ayed and recorded with Grammy winners Vince Giordano and the Nighthawks an
 d toured throughout the US\, Europe and Asia with Gordon Webster’s swing
  band. Jon recorded his album ‘House Rent Blues’ with many of the musi
 cians from these bands\, and continues to explore and expand this music si
 nce returning to Australia. Jon’s PhD examined early jazz techniques and
  the possibility of re-contextualising them into modern frameworks. Jon ha
 s recorded 3 of his own albums and appeared on close to 40 other albums. T
 amara Murphy (bass) ran her quintet Murphy’s Law for 14 years\, releasin
 g four albums and was a member of Keller-Murphy-Browne (with Andrea Keller
  and Allan Browne)\, releasing two albums. She now runs her band Spirograp
 h Studies and albums have been nominated for a number of awards including 
 The Age Genre Music Awards\, AIR awards and The Bell Awards. Murphy was aw
 arded the inaugural PBS Young Elder of Jazz Commission in 2011 and her com
 positions have appeared on albums by other artists\, including vocalist El
 ly Hoyt\, ATM15 Big Band\, pianist Tony Gould and saxophonist Rob Burke. K
 yrie Anderson (drums) travelled to the prestigious Banff International Jaz
 z and Creative Workshop in 2019\, where she was mentored by luminaries Vij
 ay Iyer and Tyshawn Sorey. Since that pivotal experience\, she has emerged
  as a prominent figure in the Australian jazz and improvisation scene. Her
  exceptional contributions have not only led to two nominations for the es
 teemed Freedman Fellowship but have also featured her performances at majo
 r international jazz festivals around Australia with her group’s Aura\, 
 Then Now When\, LIIT and the Sam Anning Septet. She has frequented Japan t
 o record and perform with Sumire Kuribayashi quartet\, as well as performe
 d national tours with The Mae’s\, Rowena Wise and Nancy Bates. She was a
 lso selected for two creative residencies with her band LIIT in which she 
 returned to Banff\, Canada and Harrigans Lane\, NSW. In addition to her ca
 reer as a performer\, Kyrie is committed to teaching and mentorship throug
 h Melbourne University’s Gender Defying Jazz Program and the Monash Univ
