 s\, folklore and fairytales have reinforced limiting gender stereotypes\, 
 confining heroines to narrow\, conventional roles.\n\nIn this talk\, Dr Ce
 ri Houlbrook will explore how folklore is much more than just fairy-tale c
 lichés. Hidden within women’s stories and folk songs are powerful messa
 ges of anger\, fear\, resilience\, and hope. We’ll look at how these sto
 ries have been preserved and shaped by women\, and how they continue to in
 fluence ideas about gender and societal norms today. By uncovering the leg
 acies of these women and the stories they championed\, this talk reveals h
 ow folklore has served as a subtle but powerful tool for female emancipati
