SUMMARY:Brothers of Affliction
LOCATION:Greenfinch Theatre and Dive
DESCRIPTION:Brothers of Affliction is a powerful and intimate drama about
three estranged brothers brought together for one volatile night inside th
e home that still holds the scars of their childhood. Tyriq wants answers
about the father who abandoned them\, while Chris and Shane have spent yea
rs surviving by refusing to confront the past. As alcohol\, anger\, and ol
d resentments loosen their defenses\, buried memories surface\, forcing th
e brothers to reckon with abuse\, violence\, abandonment\, and the very di
fferent ways each learned to survive. What begins as a search for answers
becomes an explosive confrontation with family legacy\, Black masculinity\
, brotherhood\, forgiveness\, and the cost of silence. At its heart\, Brot
hers of Affliction asks what happens when men who were taught to bury thei
r pain are finally forced to name it—and whether brotherhood can survive
the truth. Written by award-winning playwright Paris Crayton III \, Broth
ers of Affliction has developed a life on stages across the country\, with
two productions in Atlanta \, as well as productions in Florida and Los A
ngeles . Now\, the play comes to St. Louis\, bringing both the work and it
s playwright home. A native of St. Louis \, Crayton returns to the city wi
th a full production of his work for the first time in two decades. His la
st play produced in St. Louis\, The Day Daddy Came Home \, took the stage
20 years ago . The return of Brothers of Affliction marks a meaningful hom
ecoming for an artist whose career has continued to grow beyond his hometo
wn. For Crayton\, this production is more than another staging of Brothers
of Affliction . It is an opportunity to bring a deeply personal story abo
ut family\, pain\, healing\, and brotherhood back to the community where h
is own story began. PLEASE NOTE: Brothers of Affliction is recommended for
ages 15 and up. The production contains strong language\, mature themes\,
  simulated drug use\, and simulated violence.\n\nBoletos: https://www.purp
