SUMMARY:Echoes and Dreams. Bristol
LOCATION:Folk House
DESCRIPTION:An evening of beautiful Greek music that offers a bridge to th
e past\, across the seas\, and a glimpse into the future. Music from diffe
rent eras of great Greek composers including Tsitsanis\, Zabetas\, Theodor
 akis\, Xarhakos\, Hadjidakis\, Loizos\, Kazandizis\, Andriopoulos\, as wel
l as original compositions from members of the group. Arrangements for voi
 ce\, guitar\, cello\, bouzouki\, baglama and harmonica. Songs such as “E
 ho ena Kafene”\, “Tzamaika”\, “Min klais”\, “Paei\, paei”\,
“Siko horepse koukli mou” and many more that have resonated throughout
Greek households for so many decades. YouTube Clips: https://youtu.be/uqs
 6b66d528 Musicians George Tsolakis (voice\, guitar\, baglama)\, Sarah Carv
 alho-Dubost (voice\, cello\, guitar)\, Pavlos Carvalho (voice\, bouzouki\,
harmonica) About the musicians and project. George\, Sarah and Pavlos are
musicians who have been on the Greek music scene for many years. Between
them they perform with different groups including Amalgama\, Plastikes Kar
ekles and The Icons of Greek Music Project\, to name but a few. They have
performed at venues including the Green Note\, Vortex\, Jamboree\, Royal F
estival Hall\, King’s Place and Royal Albert Hall. However\, their passi
on is playing in the smaller\, more intimate venues where they present the
se songs\, closer to the audience\, in an ambience of sharing and intimate
story telling. Even though the classical cello is not an instrument tradi
tionally associated with Greek music\, when its rich\, human\, sustained s
ound combines with the sparkle of the bouzouki and the exoticness of Greek
microtonal voice\, something magical happens. Two worlds become one and a
new common language emerges. After trying it once\, the results were such
a beautiful revelation that continuing to explore this minimal combinatio
n of instruments with voice was too irresistible to not go further. So her
e we are\, with a very personal project that includes our arrangements of
traditional Greek songs we love and some new compositions of ours\, inspir
ed by the music of the past. We are so happy to be able to share this with
you. Ticket prices: £15 general admission\, £10 student Tickets will al
so be available at the door: £18 general admission\, £13 student\n\nBole
