  the course of a multifaceted career spanning four decades. This jazz gian
 t and multiple GRAMMY and Tony Award-winner has become well known for taki
 ng intrepid leaps of faith in re-envisioning jazz classics\, parsing cuts 
 from The Great American Songbook through her own singular artistic vision.
 \n\nShe earned her first professional experience with the legendary Thad J
 ones/Mel Lewis Big Band\, and then went on to share stages with jazz great
 s throughout the ‘70s\, including Sonny Rollins and Dizzy Gillespie. In 
 the ‘90s\, she began producing her own work resulting in a string of inf
 luential records: 1993’s Keeping Tradition\, 1997’s tribute to the lat
 e Ella Fitzgerald\, Dear Ella\, 1997’s Love And Peace: A Tribute To Hora
 ce Silver . Into the 2000s\, she released the GRAMMY award-winning Eleanor
 a Fagan (1915-1959): To Billie With Love From Dee Dee Bridgewater \, befor
 e exploring other musical and spiritual roots in 2015’s Dee Dee’s Feat
 hers and 2017’s Memphis… I’m Ready. 2025 brought the release of Elem
 ental \, the GRAMMY Award-nominated studio recording of Bridgewater’s co
 llaboration with pianist Bill Charlap.\n\nWith film\, television\, Broadwa
 y\, radio broadcasting and soundtrack credits\, Bridgewater is an accompli
 shed entertainment “polymath.” As she flourished in music\, so did she
  in theatre\, winning a Tony Award for her role as Glinda in the 1975 prod
 uction of The Wiz. She continued garnering praise and acclaim for stage pr
 oductions such as Lady Day\, Sophisticated Ladies\, Black Ballad\, Carmen
 \, Cabaret\, among others. She also served as the namesake host of the lon
 g-running syndicated NPR radio program JazzSet with Dee Dee Bridgewater. O
 ff-stage\, Bridgewater is equally accomplished: she is an NEA Jazz Master
 \, Doris Duke Artist\, Memphis Music Hall of Fame inductee\, and global Go
