 e founder\, in 1974\, of the seminal proto-punk art rock band Doctors of M
 adness (“The missing link between David Bowie and The Sex Pistols”- Th
 e Guardian) he went on to enjoy a solo musical career\, and founded the le
 gendary multi-media club Cabaret Futura\, before working as an actor on su
 ch movies as Batman with Jack Nicholson\, Gangs of New York with Martin Sc
 orsese\, Mona Lisa with Neil Jordan and Harry Potter with everyone else. B
 orn in London in 1951\, he has been cited as an influence by everyone from
  Joy Division to Vic Reeves. His collaborations include work with Damon Al
 barn\, Tom Waits\, TV Smith\, Gavin Bryars\, Jarvis Cocker\, Ed Harcourt a
 nd Tom Robinson. His memoir\, Strange - Punks and Drunks and Flicks and Ki
 cks was published by Andre Deutsch in 2004 and was received with glowing r
 eviews. Jools Holland\, declared it “An extraordinary memoir of an extra
 ordinary life”\, while the BBC’s Peter Curran enthused “A fantastic
