DESCRIPTION:In our opening concert of 2026/27\, Turning Point Ensemble re
 discovers overlooked gems from the past\, and discovers new composers a
 nd repertoire for the present day and future. The striking combination of 
 ‘rare’ repertoire includes two works composed for TPE – Remove the 
 Springs by Moldovan composer Snejani Pislari\, and Psychography by Van
 couver composer Taylor Brook. We uncover the extraordinary music of Icela
 ndic composer Jón Leifs\, now heralded as “the most important and orig
 inal composer of Icelandic music in the twentieth century”\, and are pro
 ud to bring back Remember your Power\, a work composed for TPE pianist J
 ane Hayes in 1998 by one of the finest Canadian composers of his generatio
 n\, John Burke (died 2020). Finally\, we bring forward two major composi
 tional voices of the present – the mesmerizing layered sound world of I
 celandic composer Anna Thorvaldsdottir in her Aequiliibria  of 2014\,
  and the fascinating Ninaivanjali by Quebec composer Gabriel Dharmoo i
 nspired by the melodies\, rhythms\, and drones of South Indian Carnatic mu
