Picture This: A Public Image also covers the extr aordinary life of the photographer Spike who worked as a paparazzo in Holl ywood before dedicating his life to activism and promotion of punk bands & punk ideology. The exhibition consists of 42 previously unseen prints alo ng with a selection of Spike’s personal archive of contact sheets\, zine s\, magazine covers\, record releases and images from his life in LA and S an Francisco’s anarchist\, punk and queer scenes. Alongside the prints t he exhibition features words from L.A. Times music writer Don Snowden desc ribing the mood of the city and circumstances that established L.A.’s lo cal music scene and its venues as a ‘must-play’ for touring bands.
