Support comes from Baldo Verdú, playing a set rooted in Afro-Venezuelan tradition, rhythm and identity.This show is part of the EFG London Jazz Festival.Creating music driven by polyrhythm, deep basslines and powerful soul vocals, and described as ‘Erykah Badu, Sade and Nina Simone with a Congolese twist’, Liz Ikamba seamlessly blends musical styles with intimate songwriting, a contemporary diasporic perspective, and the rhythmic, melodic traditions of Central Africa. Her work explores themes of storytelling, identity, heritage and belonging, with a warm tone, global awareness and lyrical depth.
