Everyone has a story. But not everyone knows how to tell it well. And it's all in the telling. But first you need to find, shape, and craft your story. Storytelling encompasses every person on the planet, no matter your background, field of study, or walk of life. Join educator and storyteller Kona Morris (The Moth, PBS’s Stories From The Stage, RISK!) for a workshop that will guide you through the process of composing and structuring your stories for any audience. From job interviews to introducing yourself to new friends, it is important to shape, structure, and feel confident to share your stories because YOUR STORY MATTERS . Participants will learn how to craft their own life experiences into a first-person narrative that they can share with anyone. By the end of the workshop, they will have a polished story, a long list of others to work on, and the inspiration, skills, and confidence to share them. This event is brought to you by My Japan Story SLAM! YOUR INSTRUCTOR (pictured above): Kona Morris is a storyteller, writer, educator, and comedian. She has won The Moth StorySLAM in New York City, Boston, and Los Angeles, and she came in first place at the Ojai Storytelling Festival. She has performed on international television shows and podcasts, such as Stories From The Stage (PBS and The WORLD Channel) and the RISK! podcast. Her solo show about living in a remote village north of the Arctic Circle received critical acclaim at Edinburgh Fringe and New York City Fringe (both in 2026), winning multiple awards, including Audience Choice and Staff Choice, receiving five-star reviews, and selling out theaters in Edinburgh, Los Angeles, and New York. Kona spent 14 years as a professor of literature, mythology, and creative writing, and now teaches storytelling workshops to inspire others to tell their stories. Kona is visiting Japan following her 24-show run in Edinburgh and her featured performance at the International Storytelling Festival in front of over 11,000 people!
