Exercise East 2026 - Knox Regional Netball Centre

Arrival from 9:00am for a 9:30am start.
Exercise East is the Eastern Metropolitan Councils Emergency Management Partnership’s (EMCEMP) annual, highly collaborative emergency exercise. It brings together local councils, EMV (Emergency Management Victoria), Victoria Police, and partner agencies such as the Red Cross and Salvation Army to ensure a coordinated regional response, so no single council is overwhelmed during large-scale emergencies, such as bushfires.

Participants will have the opportunity to learn about the diverse range of services and support provided by relief and recovery agencies and gain a greater understanding of how these organisations contribute to community resilience and recovery.

Representatives from Emergency Management Victoria (EMV), Gender and Disaster Australia (GAD Aus), and the Australian Red Cross will deliver learning sessions designed to enhance knowledge of relief and recovery arrangements and contemporary emergency management practices.

During the afternoon, participants will take part in an interactive tabletop exercise that explores how councils may activate and operate an Emergency Relief Centre (ERC) in response to a rapidly evolving, large-scale emergency event.

Participants will also examine the transition from relief to recovery, including the coordination, governance, and community support arrangements required to support an effective recovery effort.
