WAR ON THE ROCKIES & THE SILENCE OF THE EARTH 8:00 PM - 10:10 PM | Friday, November 6, 2026 Upper Barracks | The Confluence Historic Site & Parkland | 750 9 Avenue SE, Calgary, Alberta FILM SYNOPSES: War on the Rockies: The struggle to protect the Eastern Slopes of the Rocky Mountains, told through the voices of Albertans, with on-the-ground and drone footage exhibiting the effects of rampant industrialization. The Silence of the Earth: Berta Cáceres, Paulo Paulino Guajajara, and Aldo Zamora gave their lives defending the Earth. These environmental activists were brutally murdered in Latin America for standing up to the interests of large multinational corporations and their local allies. Who is behind these crimes, and why do they enjoy near-total impunity? What consequences does this violence have for the planet and the future of humanity? CULTURE IN ACTION: This year marks the inaugural year of CJFF's Culture in Action initiative, filling The Confluence with art and performance for all three days of the festival. We invite you to arrive early and stay late to experience the full CJFF experience that brings justice stories to life.
