This season’s DOCS+ special event, The Texture of Land and Work, is a multimedia journey focused on our relationships with the land and the effects of industrialised work. Sweeping us from ancient times to the modern world, from the magnificent oak tree in Fineshade Woods to the current upheaval of our rural landscape, we present documentary animations, a film as document, and a presentation from Corby Women’s Theatre Group. - The Texture of Land and Work brings us three new animations based on the testimonies of working lives uncovered at three historic East Midlands companies, including Stewarts & Lloyds in Corby.We’ll also bring you a meditative film of rural life and geography around Thrapston, as warehouses come to dominate the landscape. Corby Women’s Theatre Group will present us with spoken recreations of women’s lives in the shadow of the steelworks.It all takes place in the midst of an installation by Corby artist Carole Miles, inspired by the Cathedral Oak, in Fineshade Woods.
