EQ Volume 4 is coming - with four local queer DJs sharing their unique styles of electronic music - it's gonna be a fun night of dancing, sweating, and connecting on the dance floor. Hosted by Evolution Wonderlounge resident DJ Otter Nonsense - with special guests DJ Sick Reference (she/her) is a newcomer to the scene and we are pleased to welcome her to ElectroQueer Volume 4. She loves hyperpop and sees music as a vehicle for queer joy - something she sees as especially important in Alberta right now. You're going to love dancing to her high energy music as she makes her debut at EQ Volume 4 - her first billed performance! Joining us fresh off his appearance at the Wind Down Music Festival, Mechanical Laughter (he/him) is a Canadian Psychedelic Trance DJ whose journey into the psychedelic sound began at Motion Notion in 2005. Since then, they’ve been an active force in Edmonton’s underground psytrance scene, bringing high-energy sets to intimate events, festivals, and dance floors across Alberta. A co-founder of Psyblings Productions since 2019 and roster DJ for PurePsyence Events, Mechanical Laughter has continued to carve out a distinct place within Canada’s psychedelic music community. Their festival appearances include PurePsyence, Motion Notion, MO:DEM Teaser Festival Canada, Souluna, and Solaris6. A devout lover of psychedelic music, Mechanical Laughter takes a no-holds-barred approach to the dance floor, delivering pure, driving psytrance infused with elements of Full-On, Forest, and Dark Psy. Expect powerful grooves, spacey textures, alien transmissions, and psychedelic soundscapes designed to pull dancers deep into the moment. Whether chasing the first light of sunrise or riding the energy of a sunset dance floor, Mechanical Laughter is all about creating a strong connection between music, environment, and crowd. FOX.i (she/her) is an established DJ in Alberta’s underground and queer dance music scene and an emerging electronic producer currently working toward her debut full-length project. Based in Edmonton and originally from BC, her sound is unapologetically sexy, bass-forward, body-driven, and built for dark club spaces. With a deep passion for digging up queer music beyond the mainstream, she blurs genre lines to create driving, seductive sets charged with tension, release, and raw dance-floor energy.She has played venues across Edmonton and festivals including Inter.sect Art & Music Festival,Whisky Flatts, Amber Roots, and Fur Eh. Alongside DJing, she has spent the last year focused on developing a growing body of original music and collaborative work with queer artists in Canada and the U.S.Outside the booth, FOX.i is a sapphic member of the queer community and has spent years contributing through harm reduction, substance testing, sanctuary support, queer events, and embodiment, integration, and self-expression workshops. That background shapes the kind of dancefloor she builds: high energy, open-hearted, and grounded in freedom, expression, and connection.
