Mutual returns on October 3rd once again locked and loaded with a fresh blend of national and international talent to welcome the fall in the best way we know: dancing the post summer blues away in a sweaty warehouse, under a strobe light, in a sea of pounding bass emerging from one of the best sound systems in the city. The lineup features DJ TOOL as its headliner, playing in Boston for the very first time. TOOL could be considered to be one of the most groundbreaking voices in the current techno landscape emerging from Berlin’s ecosystem. As intrepidly propulsive as it is indebted to the old school, his sound blends genres and molds styles such as percolating trance, frenetic techno and seductive psychedelia, synthesizing an approach that is very much his own. As a co-founder of Mala Junta, one of the most famed electronic music artist collectives at the global level, DJ TOOL has graced dancefloors in all corners of the world, from Tbilisi’s Bassiani, New York’s Basement, Berlin’s Berghain, and London’s Fold. He finally makes his way to Boston, dialed in to make us sweat. CSILLA returns to Mutual for her second ride after a long pilgrimage around Europe’s booths and dancefloors. We have missed her, and we know you have too. Not only as a selector but also as a producer, she is a paragon of Boston’s underground. Her style is raw, fast, and relentless, blending modern groove elements with unpolished, noise-driven force that creates a dynamic of tug and pull within some of the most exquisite techno. We are so excited to welcome her again to our booth, and cannot wait for her to shake the ground beneath us. On opening duties, and returning as an honorary protégé of Boston, MOS makes his long-awaited Mutual debut. His regular appearances in productions across NYC, including his routine presence in Basement’s lineups, are a testament to his place among a new generation of techno-focused artists emerging from the city. With selections that pull from contemporary styles and enduring sounds of the past, and maintaining a focus on tension and drive, MOS will have us locked in and moving from the get go.
