Run 4 Rural

Description

Come run 5 or 10 km for rural health care! This fun-draiser run sends UCT students to rural EC, KZN and Limpopo to see first-hand the joys and challenges of rural health care. The UCT Rural Support Network, collaborating with other societies, will be hosting our annual Run 4 Rural. Last year we raised R18 000 to send health sciences students to Isilimela hospital (EC) where they helped over 100 patients with diabetes receive better care, and Emmaus hospital (KZN) where they started support groups for young mothers struggling with mental health and breastfeeding. Arrive at 8:30 for ticket checks or registration, briefing at 8:45, run starting at 9:00 This event is a collaborative effort between Rural Support Network, UCT Physiotherapy Student Committee, Medicine in Motion UCT, and Friends of Médecins Sans Frontières with all proceeds going toward rural students' travel and community projects.
