A former layout artist for Disney, Warner Bros., and Marvel Productions, and long-time instructor at Walt Disney Animation Studios and DreamWorks, Vilppu has shaped generations of professional artists. In this seminar he will share his clear, practical approach to gesture drawing and how to draw human figures quickly and effectively that tells a story. Open to artists of every level. Every participant receives direct feedback and personal critique. A rare chance to study with a true industry legend. What Glenn Vilppu’s Figure Drawing Workshop will include: You will learn methods for drawing dynamic quick sketches with a variety of media. With the use of pen, pencil, charcoal, watercolor and water soluble media you will learn how to capture and create expressive graphic gestures. Mixed with his lecture and demonstration, students will draw from a both a female and male model short timed dynamic poses. 3, 5, 10 minute poses. Through capturing gesture, you also be guided in compositional thinking that expresses the figure in a compelling way. In addition, through lectures and hands-on practice, you will study the “tools” and techniques of the old masters that contemporary artists, illustrators, and animation professionals still use. This course involves drawing male and female clothed models. All students will receive personalized feedback on their drawings. This course can be taken in Japanese with consecutive interpretation.
