With Special Guest - MAUD THE MOTH - Returning to The Trades Club for what has become an annual hometown event twinned with an acoustic performance on the 14th November at Heptonstall Octagonal Chapel .Haunting Atmospheric-Doom woven with ethereal vocals and cinematic stillness. Aspellbinding sound born from storm and sorrow.DARKHER is the haunting embodiment of composer, vocalist, and multi-instrumentalistJayn Maiven. Emerging from the brooding hills of West Yorkshire, her music is a chillingfusion of ghostly folk, heavy, doom-laden soundscapes, and ethereal atmospheres.Known for her spine-tingling voice, Maiven weaves eerie, cinematic worlds where sorrowand shadow move together. Her songs shimmer with spectral beauty, swelling fromwhispered laments to thunderous intensity that stir the soul , often described as bothdevastating and transcendent.Live, DARKHER conjures an otherworldly ritual: candlelit stages, immersive stillness, and the unsettling power of something ancient stirring just beneath the surface. It is musicthat leaves an echo - heavy, intimate, and unshakeably alive."The Buried Storm is a fitting album title with heavy poetic lyrics and instrumentation tomatch... Maiven's voice is akin to a siren song; otherworldly and alluring while also conjuringfeelings of doom and anguish."- Nine Circles"There's a far more menacing and brooding vein that runs through the music. 'Darklycinematic”- Man of Much Metal"Led by multi-instrumentalist Jayn Maiven, the album at times bears a resemblance to Neurosisor Triptykon at their most quiet and reflective... it's soothing music for people who like itdark." - Ghost Cult Magazine“Its a spacious, gloomy, flickering doom album of mood and memory…a haunting and visionaryexperience” - The Prog Mind"The voice of despair gently wafts through the air. Delicate pain wrapped in radiant beautypierces the heart slowly yet without hesitation."- 1st 3 Magazine Maud The MothMaud the Moth is the solo project of Spanish-born and Scotland-based pianist, singer and songwriter Amaya López-Carromero. Maud the Moth serves as Amaya’s alter ego: a séance-like conduit through which to process personal life experiences, and in particular themes of rootlessness, identity and trauma. Stylistically, Maud the moth uses her classical training as a platform upon which her eclectic songwriting and cathartic solo live performances rest. With the usage of live looping, Amaya weaves sonic tapestries riddled with distorted or effected pianos and driven by an enigmatic and deeply moving voice.Amaya’s commitment to her own personal vision has attracted performance opportunities from a wide range of promoters and artistic directors including Roadburn Festival (NL), Primavera Sound (ES), AMFest (ES), Rock in Bourlon (FR), Ancient Echoes (DE), Festival Noroeste (ES), Celtic connections (UK), Noite Branca (PT), Ronnie Scott's (UK), Brudenell Piano Session (UK) and CCCB (ES) amongst others. Maud the moth has also been invited to perform as guest artist by Chelsea Wolfe, Anna von Hausswolf, Kayo Dot, Dvne and Helen Money amongst other artists.Maud the Moth has released three full-length albums and two live EPs. She has appeared performing live on BBC Scotland and her music has been featured amongst other outlets, on BBC (UK), RNE (ES) and Bandcamp Radio where she was interviewed. Her third full length album ‘Orphnē’ saw premieres in Echoes and dust and Louder, receiving critical acclaim from Metal hammer magazine, Prog, Louder, Roadburn Festival, Bring the noise and Mondosonoro amongst others. In 2023 she released “Bordando el Manto Terrestre”, a collaborative album with Galician dark-ambient duo trajedesaliva which offers a sonic exploration to the life and work of Spanish/Mexican surrealist painter RemediosVaro. This work was premiered by echoes and dust, and released to acclaim of multiple outlets including Angry Metal Guy.Maud the moth will be releasing her fourth full-length “The Distaff” on 21/02/25.
