Agenda - Finding Clear Paths: Understanding the Inner World of Today's Young People.

Presented by Nicole Williamson

This presentation offers counsellors a practical and compassionate exploration of the inner world of today's adolescents, drawing on more than 20 years of experience supporting young people in educational and counselling settings.
We will explore the experiences that often underpin concerns such as anxiety, social media pressures, bullying, body image, self-esteem and peer relationships.
This session will also introduce aspects of Nicole's capstone project exploring the integration of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) in outdoor settings for teens, offering an evidence-informed perspective on engaging young people in meaningful, grounded, therapeutic work.

Nicole is a registered counsellor (ACA Level 2) and founder of Clear Path Counselling on Sydney's Northern Beaches. She specialises in supporting adolescents and young adults experiencing anxiety, emotional distress, identity concerns and life transitions through online and outdoor, nature-based counselling.
Before becoming a counsellor, Nicole spent more than 20 years in secondary education, serving in teaching and student wellbeing leadership roles. This experience has given her a deep understanding of adolescent development, the complexities facing young people and their families today, and the systems that support them.
Nicole holds a Master of Counselling and works primarily from an Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) framework, integrating evidence-based practice with warmth, curiosity and a strong therapeutic relationship. She is passionate about supporting young people to navigate life's challenges with greater resilience and psychological flexibility, to live lives guided by their values, with a deep understanding of their immense worth.
