Takaaki Itoh is a Japanese DJ, music producer, and promoter widely recognized as one of the most influential pioneers of Japan's underground techno scene. Musically, Takaaki Itoh is celebrated for his dark, hypnotic, and deeply atmospheric sound design, which he frequently describes as having a "wet" texture, using intricate layers of deep drones and relentless rhythm arrangements that he likens to the meticulous process of shaping a sculpture. To maintain complete creative independence and provide a platform for his unique sonic vision, he later founded his own record label, WOLS, which serves as a benchmark for purist, avant-garde techno.
