This concert is led by the renowned French cellist Marc Coppey alongside pianist François Dumont. As a leading figure of the contemporary French cello school, Marc Coppey has long been a prominent presence on the international stage, widely acclaimed for his profound, nuanced musical expression and his authoritative, distinctive interpretations of French repertoire.
The program features a curated selection of masterpieces from the golden age of French music, tracing the artistic trajectory from Romanticism to Modernism. Fauré's Élégie opens the musical journey with heartfelt yet understated emotion, while Debussy's Cello Sonata pioneeringly expands the boundaries of musical language through concise structure and rich tonal colors. Saint-Saëns's The Swan and Cello Sonata No. 1 harmonize elegance with fiery passion, fully demonstrating the singing, cantabile quality of the instrument.
In the second half, Ravel's Pièce en forme de Habanera and Kaddisch showcase his exquisite and refined sonic landscape.
