Join us for an inspiring evening with world-renowned metalsmith, Sarah Perkins. In this exclusive artist talk, Perkins will share insights into her distinguished career and the highs and lows of building the Metal Museum's new home in Overton Park. About Sara PerkinsSarah Perkins received her BA in Art and German at San Diego State Universityand her MFA in metals at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. She isProfessor Emerita at Missouri State University where she taught from 1994 to2017. She is a past member of the Board of Trustees of The Enamelist Societyand currently serves on the Board of Directors at the Metals Museum.Sarah is best known for her hand formed and enameled metal vessels andcontainers. She has shown her work in the USA, India, Canada, Europe, Koreaand Taiwan, ROC, participating in over 300 competitive and invitationalexhibitions. Her work has been featured in the periodicals: Metalsmith,Ornament, Glass on Metal, and Craft Arts International and is published in anumber of books including The Art of Enameling, The Penland Book of Jewelry,and Contemporary Enameling, Art and Techniques. She was the juror for theLark Publications book 500 Enameled Objects. Her work is in the permanentcollections of a number of institutions including the Brooklyn Museum of Art, theLong Beach Art Museum, the Philadelphia Art Museum, and the Victoria andAlbert Museum in London, England.Sarah was the recipient of a Mid-America Arts Alliance/National Endowment forthe Arts regional award. She has been a Senior Artist in Residence at theOregon College of Art and Craft and an Artist in Residence at the TainanNational University of the Arts in Taiwan, ROC, and at Sanskriti Foundation inNew Delhi, India. She was rthe 2019 Master Metalsmith at the Metal Museum inMemphis, TN. She has taught numerous workshops on her enamelingtechniques at universities, craft centers and guilds both in the USA and abroad.
