Intro to Character Development with Daniela Vlaskalic COURSE DESCRIPTION: You’ve been cast in a show and given a script… now what? In this full day workshop with Daniela Vlaskalic, participants will be introduced to the basics of creating and performing a scene. Using scenes pulled from Canadian Plays, Daniela will work one-on-one with participants to give them hands-on experience with the first steps of crafting a character.  No preparation required! This workshop is for ages 18+ INSTRUCTOR BIO: Daniela is a multiple award-winning actor and playwright and has worked extensively across  Canada. As a performer, Daniela has appeared with many of Canada’s theatres including: Stratford Festival, National Arts Centre, Canadian Stage, Tarragon Theatre, Royal Manitoba  Theatre Centre, Theatre Calgary, Citadel Theatre, Vancouver Playhouse, Belfry Theatre, Globe  Theatre, Theatre Aquarius, Magnus Theatre, Grand Theatre, Alberta Theatre Projects, Drayton  Entertainment, Lighthouse Festival Theatre, Theatre Orangeville, Port Stanley Festival Theatre,  and Here For Now Theatre, among others. Her wide-ranging career reflects both classical and contemporary work, with a strong focus on new Canadian plays. On screen, Daniela’s credits include Murdoch Mysteries (CBC), Private Eyes (Global), and The Truth About the Harry Quebert  Affair (Muse Productions), 10 Minute Call (BravoFact).   Daniela’s plays include The Fox (Here for Now Theatre, 2023) and Sleight of Mind (Western  Canada Theatre, 2022). She has also co-written Mules, Comrades, and the multiple award winning The Drowning Girls (co-written with Beth Graham and Charlie Tomlinson) which premiered at ATP in Calgary and has since received over 200 productions worldwide. Most recently, Daniela co-created and performed DORA MAAR: the wicked one (with Beth Graham), which premiered at Calgary’s High Performance Rodeo and was presented by Edmonton’s Workshop West Theatre. The play will receive its Ontario premiere at Stratford’s Here for Now  Theatre in 2026. Daniela is a graduate of the University of Alberta BFA Acting program.
