Die Nachbarin meint, er sei ein Engel. Der Priester ist anderer Meinung: Da der Mann kein Latein spricht, sei er ein Hochstapler. Der Unbekannte, mittlerweile im Hühnerstall untergebracht, wird zur Sensation des Ortes und lockt eine Welle von Pilger*innen an: Manche hoffen auf Heilung, manche wollen nur gaffen. Doch sie verlassen den Ort anders, als sie gekommen sind. Dan Colleys Inszenierung nutzt die Kraft des Objekttheaters und erzählt die Kurzgeschichte von Gabriel García Márquez mit Alltagsgegenständen und aus Küchenutensilien gebauten Figuren. Dabei erschafft sie auf der Suche nach der Schönheit des Textes und nach seinem emotionalen Reichtum einen poetischen Raum, der grundsätzliche Fragen nach der menschlichen Vorstellungskraft aufmacht. The neighbor says he is an angel. The priest is of another opinion: the man must be an impostor since he doesn’t speak Latin. The stranger, who has been put into the chicken coop for the moment, becomes the sensation of the town and unleashes a wave of pilgrims: some hope to be healed, others just want to have a look. But they leave the village different from how they arrived. Dan Colley’s productions uses the power of object theater and tells the short story by Gabriel García Márquez with objects and puppets made from kitchen utensils. In doing so, they create a poetic space on the search for the beauty of the text and its emotional richness that opens up basic questions about human imagination.
