His father Tom Kelly co-wrote "Like a Virgin" for Madonna and "True Colors" for Cyndi Lauper. Tyson went the other direction entirely, spending fifteen years becoming only the third person ever to play John Lennon in The Bootleg Beatles since the band formed in 1980, then taking the role to Broadway in Let It Be. He has since built his own show around the Lennon solo catalogue and in October 2025 sold out the Tung Auditorium at the Yoko Ono Lennon Centre in Liverpool on what would have been Lennon's 85th birthday. That is either a remarkable coincidence or exactly the right room for the right show.Imagine Lennon runs from "Please Please Me" through the Lennon and McCartney era, into the raw honesty of the Imagine album and all the way to Double Fantasy.
