Russian School of Ballet to Present Vaganova Showcase, Tracing a Dancer's Journey from First Class to Professional Training. A rare public look at the Vaganova method in action, from Level 1 through Professional 1. The Russian School of Ballet (RSB) will present the Vaganova Showcase. An evening built around a single idea: what does it actually take to train a dancer, from her very first ballet class to the professional stage? Rather than a single production, the Showcase is structured as a journey. RSB's top students — spanning every stage of the school's Vaganova training, from Level 1 through to Professional 1 — will perform in sequence, allowing the audience to watch technique, artistry and stage presence build in real time, year by year, level by level. "People often ask what makes Vaganova training different, and it's hard to explain in a sentence," said Yana Auger, Founder and Director of the Russian School of Ballet. "This evening is our answer. You'll see it for yourself — the same method, the same standards, carried all the way from a child's first class to a dancer preparing for a professional career." RSB is the only school in South Africa offering the complete, authentic Vaganova method — the training system developed in Russia and used by companies and academies worldwide, including the Bolshoi and Mariinsky theatres. Auger trained at the Novosibirsk College of Arts and Culture and the Bolshoi Ballet Academy, and has taught the method in Johannesburg for over 30 years. About the Russian School of Ballet Founded in 2009 by Yana Auger, the Russian School of Ballet trains dancers in Johannesburg using the complete Vaganova method — the only school in South Africa to do so. RSB is also the founding school of the Youth Russian Ballet Company (YRBC). RSB alumni have gone on to institutions including the Vaganova Ballet Academy in St. Petersburg.
