Get ready for Crafternoons at the Museum! In honor of our America 250 exhibit, Through Their Hands: People and Treasures of Early Coshocton, JH Museum is hosting a series of handcrafting workshops this fall. Our second class will be slow stitching with Holli Rainwater!Slow stitching is the act of hand-sewing with simple, intentional stitches where the focus is on the process rather than perfection. It can be used to make useful and beautiful things but the real benefit is in slowing down, making it up as you go, and relaxing into the rhythm of a needle pulling thread as you discover a calm, creative way to work with fabric. For this project, we’re going to take inspiration from the pre-Civil War flag currently on display in our America 250 exhibit to create our own slow stitched keepsakes. We will provide basic supplies, but if you have red, white, or blue fabric scraps and embellishments (including lace, buttons, rick rack, etc.) that you want to use or share, please bring them along! The slow stitching class will take place on October 21st, 2026 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM, will cost $10 per person, and is beginner friendly.
