Discoveries Vol. 14 with Musical Host Aleksi Campagne Live in the Green Sanderson Hall at Hugh's Room, 296 Broadview Avenue Show at 8pm, Doors at 7pm$15+ in advance, $20+at the door Named Penguin Eggs & Roots Music Canada's New Discovery of the Year! , Aleksi Campagne offers a contemporary, indie-folk take on the time-honoured fiddle-singing tradition. Born and raised in Montreal, Aleksi’s music blends folk songwriting with an edgy, multi-layered sound resulting from his unique combination of voice, violin and looping-effect pedals. Aleksi was awarded the Canadian Folk Music Award for francophone artist of the year for his debut album in April 2024 Claire Turnbull is a flutist and singer-songwriter from the Eastern Townships of Quebec, where the region’s rich Irish, French Canadian and Scottish cultural heritage inspire her music. A dynamic performer, she has been playing the flute since the age of two and has built a versatile career spanning classical, folk and traditional music, all with the distinctive voice of her silver flute. Alongside guitarist and collaborator, Zach Bachand, her performances featurearrangements of traditional, Irish, Scottish and French tunes and original songs, blending her classical training with the rich storytelling traditions of folk and trad music. She has studied with internationally renowned flutists, notably James Galway and William Bennett. She holds a Bachelor of Music from McGill University and completed graduate studies at the Université de Montreal and the Longy School of Music. Claire has performed with orchestras, chamber ensembles, and bands, appearing at festivals and concert series across Canada, including a recent appearance as a featured soloist with Orchestre Fidelio.
