Following the consecutive release of the three landmark albums often referred to as his “classic trilogy”—Talking Book(1972), Innervisions (1973), and Fulfillingness’ First Finale (1974)—Wonder released his crowning achievement, Songs in the Key of Life, on September 28, 1976. This year marks the 50th anniversary of one of the most celebrated albums in the history of popular music. Located just a two-minute walk from Kamakura Station, PHONO Kamakura is a record café where younger generations can discover music that feels both nostalgic and new. Beginning Tuesday, September 1, PHONO Kamakura will present a month-long feature titled Soul Music: The All-Time Best, showcasing essential albums by Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Prince, and many more, selected by renowned “Soul Searcher” Masaharu Yoshioka. As part of the celebration, PHONO Kamakura will also host Vintage Soul Night on Saturday, September 12—a special DJ event featuring more than 30 classic and rare vinyl records from the collection.
